YOSHIDAMURA MATSURI 吉田村まつり

A festival held in a very small village, Yoshidamura, Tochigi

Last month, there was a small festival called YOSHIDAMURA MATSURI near my hometown. The festival was held not only to celebrate the rice harvest, but also to revitalize such a small and quiet village. Although it was a cold and rainy day, I had a pretty good time there.

先日は栃木県下野市で行われた吉田村まつりへ。

田舎での小さなフェスティバルやマルシェが好きな私。

去年ご縁があってお店のスタッフとして参加させていただいた吉田まつりに

今年はお客さんとして参加してきました。

The most attractive point of the festival was music. Several musicians came to the event and played enjoyable music which matched the atmosphere of the festival. Because of the rain, the concert was held in a big warehouse. It was very exiting to listen to music at such an unusual place.

会場に着くと素敵な音楽が聞こえてきます。

雨が降っていたのでて倉庫で演奏されましたが

それはそれで趣があって幸せな気分でした。

There were more than twenty stores there. I'll introduce two of them which I loved.

One of the stores I found nice was a café called Café FUJINUMA .

I got a cup of Latte and matcha scones. The original café is located in Oyama, Tochigi. I haven't been there before so I would like to visit someday.

雨が降っていて寒かったので温かいコーヒーに体がホッとなりました。

お店は小山にあるのでいつか行ってみたいな。

There was a book store called analog books. Most books were children's books, written in not only Japanese but also English, German, and French. If I had a child, I would have bought such cute books, but this time I just got a photographic album called A Year of Mornings and a KINFOLK magasin.

去年はなかったanalog booksという本屋さんが出店していました。

日本語だけでなく英語やドイツ語やフランス語で書かれた本がずらり。

そのほとんどは懐かしい絵本たちでした。

子供のころに母にたくさん読んでもらった本の英語バージョンを見つけたときは何だか嬉しくなりました。私が好きだった本が外国でも読まれているのだと。

子供がいたら絵本を買ってあげたいなと思いながら

今回はA Year of Morningsという写真集とKINFOLKの雑誌を購入しました。

I enjoyed looking around all stores and had a great time. I hope this kind of festival is going to be held in Japanese rural areas so that many more people will visit there.
